Nighttime Linkism

Jobs are leaving, and some of them will never come back. A good examination of the issue.

Health care problems. In terms of bending the curve, you shouldn’t necessarily have a ton of confidence in the Congress, since they’ve just decided to override their experts’ decision on mammogram. And Medicare needs an administrator.

If you’re looking for some fiction to read, these two New Yorker stories might be congenial. This one, by Roddy Doyle, is quite good; this one, by Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum I haven’t yet read.

This proposal for the empty luxury apartment units of New York and elsewhere is a great one: turn them into affordable housing.

This article on China’s burgeoning airplane industry is pretty informative. Commercial airplanes are an interesting business, since designing/building a model is, I believe, a five, six-year process—I wonder if there’s a way of speeding the process and integrating technology more quickly.
